We all say it, but do we truly give thanks. It is very easy to take for granted stuff. Whether it is good health, nice car, new clothes, great sense of humor etc. No matter what your situation is, we all have things to be grateful for. We recently started a family tradition at the Johnson household for Thanksgiving. After we say grace, we go around the table and every says something specific they are grateful for. We even make the grandsons take part. I would encourage everyone to at least take a moment to reflect. Especially before the madness of Black Friday takes over.
This year Firelands Local will be closed on Black Friday. I apologize in advance.
I have included a picture of one of the many turkeys we have around her.
Our next drop off day will be Wed. December 7 from 9-2.
As usual, they had a great day. They collected a total of 24,680 pounds of paper. This is the equivalent of an armored car. Sandusky had a total of 11,111 lbs. collected. This year Norwalk came out on top with a total of 13,569 lbs. collected. The efforts of the wonderful associates and the community members that participated helped save 209.78 trees from being harvested.
Firelands Local wants to send a huge thank you to all the associates at both the Norwalk and Sandusky offices for their help with this event.
The pictures show our storage room filled after we collected all material. The other picture is the mountain of boxes created from emptying a portion of the material.
As a reminder, on the first Wed. of every month, we have an open drop off day. ANYONE can bring paper to be destroyed. Businesses and non-businesses are welcome. Seniors get a special break. The first 50 lbs. are free for seniors, It is only .25/lb. after the first 50lbs. It does not matter where you live either.
For those of you that know me, I am sure you agree that my wife is a wonderful person. Some of you even refer to her as a “saint”. That phrase is usually in a sentence that goes something like this…”you have been married for 30 yrs, your wife must be a saint to deal with you for that long”.
Last week was another busy week for us. We had 4 more people working at the workshop. 2 of which are new and 2 are returnees.
We will be having a FL and CLI reunion on Friday 8/12/22 from 2-6. We are inviting all folks that have either worked here or received services to come back and reunite with old friends and familiar faces.
Our next drop off date is 8/3 from 9-2
Our good news is that we have continued to stay extremely busy. We have recently picked up several new assembly jobs.
So far this year, we have almost doubled the number of large shred jobs that have been completed. We have completed 76 purges so far this year compared to 40 at this time last year.
This growth has created the need for us to hire a full time employee to help us continue our growth. If you or anyone you know is interested, please fill out an application on our website. Firelandslocal.com
I would also like to remind you that our next drop off day is Wed. August 3rd. from 9-2. If you can’t make it then. Please give me a call at 419-921-6400 to set up an appointment that is better for your schedule.
We will be putting a great “wrap” on our new baby and looking for some sponsorship for it as well. If you are interested in this, please give me a call or email me.
